Land Rover tuning in Tullamarine, Melbourne

Most Land Rover owners want better towing response and smoother drivability, not just a dyno number. We tune Defender, Discovery and Range Rover models in Tullamarine, from 3.0 diesels to the supercharged 5.0 V8, with a thorough health check first.

What we tune

Performance upgrades for your Land Rover

Tuning built around how Land Rovers are really used: towing, touring and covering big distances.

Diesel tuning for towing

On the 3.0 V6 diesels and the newer Ingenium six-cylinder diesels, we calibrate for low-down torque and steady exhaust temperatures under load, keeping DPF and EGR systems intact.

Supercharged 5.0 V8 calibration

The supercharged V8 in Range Rover Sport SVR, Range Rover and Defender V8 models responds well to software and pulley upgrades, with cooling watched closely.

Ingenium petrol tuning

For Evoque, Discovery Sport, Velar and Defender P300 and P400 models, we refine response and midrange where your ECU software is supported.

ZF 8-speed calibration

Where supported, adjusting shift points and torque handling on the 8-speed automatic suits towing and stops a tuned car hunting for gears on hills.

Exhaust upgrades

Valved systems suit the V8s, and we keep sound sensible so your Range Rover stays roadworthy and comfortable on long trips.

Suspension and brakes

Air suspension checks, brake upgrades for towing and touring weight, and wheel and tyre setup keep a tuned Land Rover safe when loaded.

Tuning stages

Build your Land Rover in stages

Start where it makes sense for your car and budget, then build from there. Every stage is calibrated in-house.

Stage 1

Software only on a standard vehicle. On the diesels that means stronger towing torque and better drivability, and on the V8 a sharper response.

Stage 2

Calibration built around hardware such as intercooler, intake or a supercharger pulley on the 5.0 V8. Popular for SVR and V8 Defender owners.

Stage 3

Bigger supercharger or turbo and fuel system work. Rarely the right choice for a tow vehicle, and we'll say so if it doesn't suit how you use the car.

Brands we use

Proven software and parts

We read and write Land Rover engine and transmission files using Magicmotorsport tools where your control units are supported, and we always keep a backup of the original. Newer JLR vehicles can be locked, so we confirm support before booking.

Before you tune

Before you tune your Land Rover

  • Check the 3.0 V6 diesel bottom end

The 3.0 TDV6 and SDV6 have a known history of crankshaft and bearing failures, often tied to oil condition. We review service history and oil health before adding torque.

  • Timing chains and Ingenium

Some Ingenium engines have shown timing chain wear. We check for warning signs and fault codes before we tune.

  • Towing limits don't change

A tune improves how the vehicle tows, not what it's rated to tow. Your GVM and braked towing capacity stay the same.

  • Emissions equipment stays

We don't remove DPF, EGR or AdBlue systems. Keeping them working is part of keeping your Land Rover roadworthy and compliant.

FAQ

Land Rover tuning questions

  • Yes, that's the most common reason Defender owners tune. Expect better low-down torque and fewer downshifts on hills. Exact gains depend on the vehicle.

  • It can be, but we check the engine's history and condition first because of known crankshaft issues on these engines. If it's not healthy, we'll tell you.

  • Yes. The 5.0 supercharged V8 responds well to software, and pulley upgrades are an option once the cooling system and supercharger drive check out.

  • No, engine and gearbox tuning doesn't change the air suspension. We do inspect it during the health check because a tuned, loaded vehicle relies on it.

  • Call 0428 282 890 or book online. Tell us your model, engine and whether you tow, and we'll plan the right tune at our Tullamarine workshop.
