Before you tune your Subaru
EJ engine health
EJ engines in the STI and older WRX can suffer ringland and bearing failures, especially if previously tuned poorly. We do a compression or leak-down test and data log before tuning.
Fuel quality
Turbo Subarus are sensitive to knock. Always run 98 RON premium unleaded, and expect the calibration to be built around it.
Clutch and transmission limits
Manual clutches wear quickly on tuned WRXs, and CVT-equipped models have tighter torque limits. We check the drivetrain and tune within its limits.
Newer WRX and NA models
ECU access on the latest models can be restricted, and naturally aspirated engines gain little from software. We confirm what is possible for your specific car.

Naturally aspirated Subarus gain only a little from software. Exhaust, suspension, tyres and brakes usually make a bigger difference to how the car feels. We will be straight with you.
